Alterations and Additions to an Art Deco 1940s House
2021
A contemporary addition to a 1940s house in Leederville. The scope included a new living/dining/kitchen as well as a reconfiguration of the existing house. A new ensuite, WIR, office and bathroom were added within the existing house. A new garage was added to the rear of the property that can double as an outdoor entertaining space.
The house was designed around the concept of the ‘criss cross’ motif in the original stained glass windows. The ceiling in the new living area replicates this criss cross with the ceiling opening up towards the north light in the kitchen and in the opposite direction to views of the yard and church to the south.
